Family & Community
I am grateful to Courtenay residents for the opportunity to represent them on council. I believe in people. Since I was a child, this theme has been constant in my life. My interpersonal skills will contribute to the facilitation of positive change for Courtenay residents. Collaboration and active listening is a key element of my governance style as Councillor. I am passionate about community ideas and making them a reality. I hold positive regard for every person I interact with and strive to earn people’s respect. I hope to build relationships to the point where a person would happily have me at their dinner table. As well, I would happily have them at mine. We are in a time when climate change threatens our children’s very exitance. Now is the time to be brave, bold, and give people hope. This requires action, no matter how unpopular the idea is. My daughter expects nothing less. My true passion is supporting community members on the front lines. Communities posses the wisdom of “place” and the people in it enrich our lives!
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead
